Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, United States
I am a Maternal Fetal Medicine subspecialist at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. As a Maternal Fetal Medicine subspecialist, I am engaged in clinical research as part of the Clinical Expertise and Innovation Track. I have recently completed a randomized controlled trial on the MGH labor floor to determine the effect of positioning on perineal morbidity among those undergoing their first births. Given this work, I have also been (and continue to be) an invited speaker to discuss the evidence based management of the second stage of labor, an area often dominated by non evidence based practice.
I have a passion for education and have been recognized for my efforts with teaching awards throughout my training. I have been appointed as an Associate Clerkship Director for the OBGyn students rotating at MGH and am passionate to help to not only improve the education of our students, but the education provided by our faculty as well. Beyond the medical students, I have worked with the education chiefs to improve the education of our resident trainees by implementing weekly teaching sessions on the Labor Floor at the start of the day to provide foundational learning as the clinical day begins. Additionally, I serve as the coordinator of our divisional Perinatal Conference, ensuring that the faculty continues to learn and maintain our commitment to clinical excellence.
In addition to my research and educational efforts, I have a commitment to ultrasound based education. I serve as the co-coordinator of our MGH Ultrasound CME Course and have worked to enhance the ultrasound based learning not only in our division but also extending to our collaborators in Radiology, Neonatology, and others. I look forward to continuing this effort with the postgraduate course offering at the 2026 SMFM Pregnancy Meeting.
