Department of Women’s Health, Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin
Rachel L. Bank, MD is a second-year resident physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She graduated cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and completed an honors thesis on postnatal support systems among Zulu mothers in Durban, South Africa.
Her research focuses on maternal-fetal health, neonatal outcomes, and perinatal care. She has studied postpartum care in pregnancies complicated by fetal anomalies, the role of fetal MRI in polyhydramnios, and neonatal feeding protocols after necrotizing enterocolitis. Her work has been published in the Journal of Perinatology and the Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports. She has presented her research nationally at ACOG, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, and the National Perinatal Association.
Dr. Bank plans to pursue fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, with the goal of improving outcomes for high-risk pregnancies and building evidence-based models of perinatal care. She is particularly dedicated to caring for low-income patients and hopes to expand her work to global health settings, focusing on marginalized communities where access to maternal care is limited.
