Jennifer Yao is an incoming fourth-year medical student at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She is completing a dedicated research year with a focus on women’s health and obstetrics/gynecology.
Her research interests center on maternal mortality and morbidity, with projects spanning topics such as placenta accreta spectrum, peripartum complications, obstructive sleep apnea in pregnancy, and readmission risk modeling using large national databases. She has presented at regional conferences and is actively preparing multiple abstracts and manuscripts for upcoming meetings.
Beyond research, Jennifer is passionate about advancing women’s health education and patient advocacy. She is working toward developing a student-run initiative in postpartum care and community outreach, with the long-term goal of pursuing a career in academic obstetrics and gynecology.
