Dr. Lina Youssef is a highly self-motivated postdoctoral researcher in maternal fetal medicine working currently at BCn . Her interests focus on women’s health and improving maternal and perinatal outcomes on the short and long term in pregnancy related disorders. She has graduated and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Damascus University, Damascus, Syria achieving the highest score among her peers. Later, she pursued a joint doctorate PhD degree in Fetal and Perinatal Medicine from three European universities (the University of Barcelona, Spain; Lund University, Sweden; KU Leuven University, Belgium) achieving a Cum Laude distinction. After finishing her PhD, she developed a high level of autonomy which allowed her to lead a study on complement activation in preeclampsia, to be the coordinator of an ongoing multicenter randomized controlled trial (PE37 trial) and to collaborate in the IMPACT BCN randomized controlled trial that recently showed the potential benefits of Mediterranean diet in the prevention of pregnancy complications. She was awarded Juan de La Cierva postdoctoral grant to deepen her knowledge on endothelial (dys)function and recently, she obtained the BITRECS fellowship grant and joined IDIBAPS, Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, Spain to work on an ambitious project of preeclampsia phenotyping to identify preventive strategies specific to each phenotype. Furthermore, she has extensively participated in knowledge dissemination as the scientific corrdinator of the International Master in maternal-fetal medicine in the Foundation of Medicina Fetal Barcelona, University of Barcelona, Spain and as the Chair of Online Education Subcommittee at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This year, she has been elected as the Vice Chair of the Education Committee at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
