May Abiad, MD is a PGY-1 Obstetrics and Gynecology resident at Baptist Memorial Women’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Before residency, she completed a research fellowship at the Fetal Care and Surgery Center at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School with Dr. Alireza Shamshirsaz, where she studied placenta accreta spectrum, fetal surgery, and maternal morbidity.

She has authored over fifty peer-reviewed publications and abstracts in maternal-fetal medicine and health outcomes research and has presented nationally, including at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Her current work includes projects on placenta accreta spectrum, disparities in maternal health, and innovations in fetal therapy. She plans to pursue a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, with particular interest in patient safety, quality improvement, and advancing equitable care for women and families.
