Katarzyna Gajewska-Knapik is a consultant in Obstetrics and Feto-Maternal Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals, Cambridge, UK. She is a Fellow of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and holds a PhD in fetal physiology (fetal thyroid function). Her Feto-Maternal subspecialty training was under the supervision of Professor Kypros Nicolaides, at Kings College Hospital, London, where she obtained an expertise in the management of complex fetal problems. She is the co-lead consultant for multiple pregnancy care in Cambridge and is looking after patients with twin and higher order pregnancies.
Katarzyna has completed Master of Studies in Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge and has special interest in the use of genomics in prenatal and newborn diagnosis.
She is a research active clinician and currently leads as Principal Investigator on several studies which run in Cambridge University Hospitals, including:
The Generation Study (Newborn Genomes Programme) – a groundbreaking research project which aim is to detect rare genetic conditions at birth; and INGR1D2 (Investigating Genetic Risk for Type 1 Diabetes)2 which is part of an international GPPAD collaboration (Global Platform for Prevention of Autoimmune Diabetes).
