Stephanie Stokes, MD, is a current Maternal–Fetal Medicine Fellow at Albany Medical Center, following prior training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Augusta University and medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her research interests center on prenatal diagnostics, placental biology, and ultrasound evaluation of complex pregnancies. She has also contributed to translational physiology research examining leptin-mediated vascular dysfunction, and she leads multiple ongoing clinical and quality-improvement initiatives, including standardized stillbirth evaluation pathways, human-milk-feeding education optimization, and a randomized controlled trial evaluating visual-art interventions during antepartum hospital admissions.
Dr. Stokes has several peer-reviewed publications on fetal anomalies, disorders of sexual differentiation, SMA type 0, HSV-related neonatal encephalitis, ultrasound-based prenatal diagnosis, and placental pathology. She has presented her work nationally at SMFM, AIUM, ABM, and SRI. In addition to her research activity, she serves in multiple leadership roles—including reviewer for the British Medical Journal, editorial board member for AME Case Reports, member of Leadership U for Humanity, and mentor for residents applying to MFM fellowships—reflecting her commitment to advancing the field through academic leadership, rigorous peer review, and trainee development. Upon completeion of fellowship Dr. Stokes hopes to continue particpating in mentorship, educational, and research opportunities.
