Nilhan Torlak, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Surgery at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. She was awarded her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from Koc University in Istanbul, Türkiye. During her PhD, she was supported by a Fulbright Ph.D. Dissertation Research Grant and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TUBITAK) with 2214-A International Research Fellowship Programme for PhD Students to continue her thesis research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Torlak's primary areas of research include gastroschisis, myelomeningocele, and the role of the placenta in congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
