Maternal Fetal Medicine Attending Physician
University of Pittsburgh Magee Women's Hospital
Dr. Christina Megli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist with additional training in reproductive infectious diseases. Dr. Megli leads a translational and basic science research program focused on infection and immunity at the maternal-fetal interface, with the goal of understanding mechanisms that drive preterm birth and neonatal morbidity.
Her laboratory investigates how placental and fetal membrane immune cells respond to ascending bacterial pathogens during pregnancy. She currently serves as a co-investigator on several NIH- and foundation-funded clinical and translational studies evaluating infectious and inflammatory pathways in pregnancy.
Dr. Megli also contributes to national efforts in perinatal infectious disease preparedness as a member of the Infectious Diseases and Emerging Threats Committee. Her work is dedicated to advancing mechanistic understanding and developing targeted strategies to prevent infection-related complications in mothers and infants.
