Beyond the Biology: Confronting the Inequities and Disparities Impacting Diabetes Care in Pregnancy
Diabetes care in pregnancy is a rapidly evolving landscape, marked by new technologies, changing treatment guidelines in the background of rising rates of pregestational and gestational diabetes. However, despite these clinical advances, persistent inequities continue to impact diagnosis, care delivery, and outcomes in pregnancy and postpartum. This session will explore the urgent need to move beyond the biology and examine the structural, systemic and social factors that are driving disparities in diabetes care during and after pregnancy.
