Erika F. Werner, MD, MS is the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts Medical Center and the Louis E. Phaneuf Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts University School of Medicine with a joint appointment in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Epidemiology at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Brown School of Public Health.
Dr. Werner is a national expert on diabetes in pregnancy, preeclampsia and cost-effective practices in obstetrics. She has received funding from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD,) the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK,) and the American Diabetes Association. She has more than 100 peer reviewed publications, is the Chair of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s Health Policy and Advocacy Committee and is the Diabetes section editor for UpToDate. Dr. Werner most enjoys mentoring trainees and early career faculty and advocating for improvements in health care to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
