Dr. Gil Shechter Maor, MD, MA is a senior maternal–fetal medicine (MFM) specialist and Head of the Labor and Delivery Unit at Meir Medical Center, Israel. She earned her medical degree from Ben Gurion University of the Negev and a master’s degree in Health Systems Management from the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management. Following her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Meir Medical Center, she completed a subspecialty fellowship in maternal–fetal medicine at McGill University in Canada.
Dr. Shechter Maor combines extensive clinical leadership with academic activity. At Tel Aviv University, she serves as alecturer for medical students and in continuing medical education programs. She is also the head of the obstetric emergency simulation program at Meir Medical Center. Her academic contributions include mentoring graduate students and publishing more than 30 peer-reviewed articles on topics such as labor induction, fetal monitoring, twin delivery, maternal morbidity, and innovative approaches in obstetric care.
She is an active member of the Israeli Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Israeli Society of Maternal–Fetal Medicine. Dr. Shechter Maor has presented her work internationally, with participation at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Annual Meetings and invited lectures at leading conferences in Europe and Israel. Her current research focuses on optimizing labor management, improving outcomes in high-risk pregnancies, and integrating advanced technologies—including machine learning—into maternal–fetal medicine.
