Lucy Qi, BS, is a fourth-year medical student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and a Master of Public Health candidate at the Jefferson College of Population Health. She is pursuing a career in anesthesiology with a particular interest in obstetric anesthesia, maternal health equity, and systems-based approaches to care.
Her research focuses on disparities in regional anesthesia use during labor, with an emphasis on social determinants of health and nativity. She is currently conducting a large retrospective study using National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) data comparing epidural and spinal anesthesia use among U.S.-born and foreign-born individuals undergoing vaginal delivery.
