Dr. Anna R Whelan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA. Her research focuses on how the experience of pregnancy and birth impacts perinatal mental health, particularly among individuals with high risk pregnancies. She is currently studying a weight-inclusive pregnancy care intervention to decrease external and internalized weight stigma and improve perinatal mental health. She also specializes in cardio-obstetrics (particularly hereditary aortopathy) and placenta accreta spectrum.
