Osii is a third-year maternal-fetal medicine fellow at Duke University Medical Center. Born in Nigeria and raised in Macon, Georgia, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Georgia and completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University, where his interest in structural determinants of health and health equity further developed. Dr. Mbata’s research focuses on perinatal outcomes among vulnerable populations, particularly racial minorities and individuals in rural communities. He is passionate about using epidemiologic tools to investigate disparities and inform interventions that can be applied in both clinical and policy settings.
