Catherine Yang, MD, is a third-year resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. She grew up in North Carolina, where she attended Duke University for her undergraduate studies in Biology and Psychology. After a year as a medical assistant in Connecticut, she then moved to Minnesota for medical school at the Mayo Clinic.
Her academic interests center on medical education, health equity, and reproductive justice. Dr. Yang is an award-winning educator, having received multiple resident teaching awards in recognition of her commitment to mentorship and learner development. Her research focuses on understanding disparities in postpartum hemorrhage, and she has contributed to health system–wide policy reform to promote compassionate, dignified care for incarcerated patients.
Dr. Yang aspires to a career in Maternal-Fetal Medicine dedicated to advancing equitable obstetric care and supporting patients navigating complex pregnancies in making informed, values-based decisions for them and their families. She is excited to attend her first SMFM Annual Meeting and to connect with, learn from, and grow alongside the Maternal-Fetal Medicine community.
