Jose Reyes, MD, is a current T-32 research fellow and clinical instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Reyes's research focuses on improving and expanding care for pregnant patients in the acute care setting. He is interested in understanding the link between emergency department visits and severe maternal morbidity and the treatment of opioid use disorder in pregnant patients presenting to an emergency department setting. He is pursuing a Master of Science in Health Policy Research at the Perelman School of Medicine and practices emergency medicine clinically at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Reyes will join the Department of Emergency Medicine at the McGovern School of Medicine in Houston, TX, as an assistant professor.
Dr. Reyes received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in creative writing at Texas State University, followed by his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his training in emergency medicine at Cook County Hospital, where he served as chief resident, focusing on educational and administrative development.
