My name is Sage Smith, and I am a senior undergraduate student at the University of Chicago, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish on the pre-med track. I had the privilege of interning for Dr. Anzai and Dr. Benedetto at NY Midtown OB/GYN Clinic during the Summer of 2025, where I worked on various research projects that aimed to identify maternal and obstetric factors associated with increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes and the socioeconomic trends within these predictions.
At the University of Chicago, I am currently a research assistant for the Woodward Childhood Development Lab and treasurer of Phoenix Biology (an organization sponsored by the UChicago Biological Sciences Department that provides academic and social support for pre-med/STEM undergraduate students).
