 Graduated from Kagoshima University Faculty of Medicine in 1981.
 Joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Nagasaki University, the same year.
 Served as Lecturer (from 1998) and later as Associate Professor in the Perinatal Medical Center (from 2001).

 Studied at the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Brown University, Rhode Island, USA (1995–1997).
