Laura Peyton Ellis, MD is a fourth year resident at the University of Connecticut. She attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University where her research and clinical work focused on patient with opioid use disorder. She then went on to pursue national clinical guideline creation in pain management and prenatal care provision with a special focus on chronic diseases in pregnancy and rural prenatal care in residency. She hopes to pursue a fully funded physician-scientist career in general obstetrics and gynecology.
