Clinical Research Program Director
Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital
Nico Tavella, MPH, CPH is the clinical research program director for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York, USA. He is also a doctoral student in public health at the City University of New York. His clinical training lies in the intersection of social sciences, clinical research, and public health. His interests lie in the intersections of social structures (race, ethnicity, gender) and health that yield disparate clinical outcomes facilitated by biopsychosocial mechanisms. Current research interests include examinations of social vulnerability and perinatal risk as it relates to pregnancies complicated by placental disorders and prior cesarean delivery. For the past four years, he has supported dozens of prospective and retrospective clinical research studies across the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is thrilled to be presenting at his third SMFM Pregnancy Conference.
