Laura Ibañez-Pintor, MD, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on maternal-fetal immunology, particularly how maternal exposures affect placental function and early childhood neurodevelopment.
Completing her MD at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2022, she then began her postgraduate research at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where she focused on obstetric anesthesia, specifically studying postpartum hemorrhage, neuraxial analgesia, and peripartum quality improvement. A year later, she moved into Obstetrics, the area she's most passionate about. She now works in the Edlow Lab, where she helps coordinate both institutional and national research studies.
Beyond her research, Laura is committed to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration in maternal and child health and promoting Latin American representation in global academic medicine.
