Vanessa Kirschner is a fourth-year medical student at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Her work has focused on pregnancy in solid organ transplant recipients, cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, preeclampsia, and acute myocardial infarction, with a particular interest in identifying high-risk populations and informing clinical decision-making during pregnancy. Through this research, she aims to better characterize pregnancy as a period of cardiovascular vulnerability and to develop evidence that supports risk stratification, counseling, and multidisciplinary care for medically complex pregnant patients. She plans to pursue a career in academic obstetrics and gynecology, with the goal of advancing research and clinical care at the intersection of cardiovascular disease and maternal health.
